Marlene From Harriet Wilde
Marlene From Harriet Wilde

These divine lace peep toe wedding shoes by Harriet Wilde are the perfect compliment to a vintage inspired tea length wedding dress.  Delicate lace with ivory duchesse silk satin give a gentle nod to one of the best style decades, the fifties, which mixed femininity and glamour to perfection.  The 9cm heels are the ideal height for a tea length gown as they lengthen the legs and give the calves a sexy yet feminine curve and the hidden platform will give just a little extra height.  Leather inner with comfort padding will ensure comfort throughout the day.

The Marlene shoe by Harriet Wilde is available from Crystal Bridal Accessories for £199.99

Butterfly Blossom From Olivia Samuel
Butterfly Blossom From Olivia Samuel

Well I have to admit I’m biased when it comes to the Butterfly Blossom design as it is one of our ranges at Olivia Samuel, but for me it defines the quintesstial English garden, making it perfect for a spring or summer wedding.

Now vintage is a word that is banded about alot (especially in the wedding industry) but I’m happy to call it just good old fashioned!  Why?  Because it reminds me of my grandparents garden when I was little.  The powder blue background of this design is the same blue as the hydrangea bush which sat next to their front door, that signalled summer was here when it bloomed.

We chose a delicate font for the text (which is gold foiled onto the card) so that it would compliment the pattern rather than overpower it and have printed onto a shimmer board to keep that lovely old fashioned romantic look.  Swarovski crystals have been used to highlight the butterflies as even my nan liked a little bit of sparkle, and a pretty cream bow (optional) adds that feminine touch.

Butterfly Blossom wedding invitations cost £3.50 each, with quantity discounts starting at quantities of 50 or more.

Biba Bridal

If an elegant, glamorous, vintage style wedding gown at a high street price is what you are looking for then the Amber beaded back halter bridal gown from Biba Bridal at House of Fraser is the dress for you.  This dress has an air of vintage Hollywood with it’s satin style bust that twists over the bead embellished halter neck which then plunges down the back.  Where the bead embellished panel ends, a gentle gather creates a small train to give this gown a glamorous ‘Deco’ red carpet feel.  Included in the £665.00 price tag (as with all the Biba wedding gowns) is a specially developed Biba Bridal ivory hanger and garment bag.

If you are having a vintage themed wedding, finding a vintage style flower girl dress can be tricky since most flower girl dresses tend to be  very pretty with layers of organza, bows and they come in shades of pink, cream and other traditional  ‘pretty’ bridesmaid colours.  Monsoon have always designed more ornate and grown up dresses without making little girls look older than they are, and the flower girl dresses in their bridal range also have that lovely demure edge to them.  This vintage beaded dress is beautiful with the  beading detail all over the dress and muted silver tones.  The slightly ruffled cap sleeves and asymmetric hemline give it a 1920’s inspired style that can be accesorised with some simple silver shoes and butterfly clips or a feather detail headband.  At £60 it’s a great buy and perfect for parties after the wedding.

Pronovias Vintage

We’ve seen so many strapless wedding dresses of late that it’s really refreshing to see some gorgeous retro styles coming back.  My favourite is this Carmin wedding gown from Pronovias Vintage collection, which exudes sophisticated couture chic.  The boat neck is extremely flattering, whatever your body shape and the bodice is beautifully fitted to a high waist where it then falls out to a full skirt.  The neat ribbon at the waist and faint polka dot fabric give it real 50’s charm.  Audrey Hepburn always looked the epitome of sophistication in a boat neck dress and both her wedding outfits, designed by Givenchy, had a high neck, so if you’re looking for that feminine elegance, the Carmin gown at £1760 could be the dress for you.

These simple yet glamorous peep toe slingbacks from Cinderella’s Slipper will complement just about any wedding dress.  They have a certain vintage feel to them in the muted gold, although they also come in shiny bronze and shiny silver as well.  The shoe has a heel of 10mm and comes in size 3-8, with half sizes available too.  The lovely thing about them is that they are not overtly weddingy so you will be able to wear them afterwards as well with skirts, dresses or trousers.  What’s more they are on sale for £119 at the moment.

This beautiful muted gold lace dress from Debenhams, although not from the bridal department, would look gorgeous as a bridesmaids dress.  It would be suitable for all seasons, but personally I think it would be perfect for a Christmas wedding.  It’s a flattering look with the pleated detail to the bust and the ribbon belt to the waist, the lace overlay not only makes it one of the seasons hottest looks, but also covers any lumps and bumps.  It’s available from the Debut collection at Debenhams in size 6-20 and costs £80.

There’s nothing quite like 1950’s style for pure elegance, what’s more it is a style that will suit most body shapes, as the 50’s was a time when curves were emphasised, not hidden.  This Nina tea length dress from Stephanie Allin captures the romance and elegance of the 50’s with it’s fitted bodice and full skirt, and the lace detail keeps the look very soft.  The shrug completes the outfit by giving it a very demure, vintage feel throughout the day, then you can take it off in the evening for a more relaxed look. A simple shoulder length veil or corsage in the hair as pictured and some elegant sling backs or court shoes will complete the outfit.  The dress is £2050 and the shrug is £462.
