If you’re having a tropical themed wedding or getting married abroad, you will probably want something a little less formal than a veil or tiara to wear in your hair.  The Megan Bridal Fascinator from hatsnstuff is the perfect solution as it can be made in a choice of colours and you can also choose a two colour option where the handcrafted silk lilies will be made in your second colour choice, so rather than the traditional ivory bridal colour, you could choose baby blue with cerise pink lilies for example.  You also have the choice of a headband or comb with this style so you can choose what you feel most comfortable wearing.

The Megan Bridal Fascinator is available from hatsnstuff for £65.00

Marks & Spencer

So you may have your hair booked, possibly a spray tan, waxing and a manicure ready for the big day, but your hands will need a little more looking after than just a manicure the day before.  In all honesty, taking my makeup off, moisturising my face and moisturising my hands are pretty much the only regular beauty regimes I partake in!  I write about a great many products because I like the look, the price or the idea, but this La Maison de Senteurs hand cream from Marks and Spencer is a product I can wholeheartedly recommend.  I’ve been using this for the last year and it rehydrates your hands in the winter and summer months and leaves them smelling divine.  I use the Fleur d’ Orangier which has a sublte scent of sweet oranges and petitgrain, but Lavender or Gardenia Rose are both gorgeous too.  At £3.50 this is a treat you can keep up.

Knackered Cow Gift Set
Knackered Cow Gift Set

If you have a bridesmaid or maid of honour who is doing a fantastic job of helping you to organise your wedding, whether she’s running around organising all sorts for you, or just being there everytime you need to make a decision or need to sound off about mothers or mothers in law, then how about showing her how much you appreciate her with a Knackered Cow Gift Set!  Cowshed produce some hilariously named beauty products that contain natural ingredients with minimal preservatives, are vegetarian and are not tested on animals.  This gift set is £18 and available from Heal’s.  If however you have a bridesmaid or maid of honour who you feel is not doing too much, you could get her some of the Lazy Cow items to give her a bit of a hint!

If you’re finding yourself getting stressed with all the wedding arrangements, but don’t have time to take yourself off for a relaxing foot massage, slip on these holistic slippers from Holistic Silk to soothe your feet when you get home.   They have removable magnetic massaging insoles which help circulation and can give pain relief to tired feet whilst giving a reflexology foot massage.  They cost £65, which may sound a bit expensive for a pair of slippers, but they are gorgeous to look at, and you get a relaxing foot massage every day, which would cost you about £20 if you went to a salon, so you’ll have reaped the cost back in three days!

Go for a simple alice band with a floral or feather embellishment if you don’t fancy sitting having your hair done for hours on the morning of your wedding.  They are ideal for all hair styles, whether short and funky or long and flowing, they also work brilliantly for a beach wedding where you don’t want a fussy, ‘done’ style that could get wrecked in a sea breeze.  This feather alice band is from Accessorize and costs £18, it’s set on a satin band so it perfect for a wedding hair style.  If you’re having a red/burgundy theme, also from Accessorize is this red (i’d call it burgundy) silk carnation clip for £8.

Chandelier earrings are making quite a comeback, but on your wedding day you don’t want all eyes on your earrings.  These pearl and clear crystal earrings from the Vine collection at Yarwood White for £60 are perfect as they fall in a single line and don’t overpower the neckline.  They hang about 5.5cm from the top of the hook, but if you feel this is too long there are another two shorter styles available.  As well as the earrings there is a full range of accessories available including a necklace, bracelet and some very pretty hair grips and pins.

Not on the High StreetNot on the high street If you are not familiar with Not On The High Street then you might be pleasantly surprised when you take a look.  As the name suggests, all the products on the site are very original and unique and as such are not likely to be found on the high street.  The company has teamed up with small independent suppliers who share one thing in common and that is that they all have a passion for their work and do not have the ability or desire to market their products to the masses.  Not on the High Streettakes the marketing and sales burden away from these small companies and lets them focus on their artistic talent to create more wonderfully unique products.  There are many handcrafted items on display all of which are very original and I can honestly say that I have not seen anything like them on the high street or anywhere before.  The site is organised by category just like any other online store but you can also view products by a particular supplier.  This means that if you find a style of product that you like you can easily find items by the same artist or designer.  When the search for the perfect wedding items gets on top of you then this site is well worth coming back to again and again for a breath of fresh air retail therapy.

The good news for wedding customers is that they have just launched a wedding section on their site which has wedding exclusive categories.  They have also launched a wedding gift list which might make an interesting alternative to the typical high street store list.

Crystal Comb
This gorgeous Crystal Comb from Million Design Company is perfect for this seasons relaxed ‘half updo’ hair style.  Made with clear or ab swarovski crystals, you can choose silver or gold wiring as well as a choice of clear or tortoise shell comb to suit your hair colour.  It is pricey at £225, but it is intricately made and will be a lasting memento you can use again or pass down in years to come.  The Million Design Company has an online shop with a gallery of beautiful and very happy brides photos.  If you can’t find exactly what you’re looking for then Gillian Million who designs and creates the bridal jewellery offers a bespoke service, which is actually how she came to start the business as she couldn’t find anything she liked for her own wedding!  She will even alter the item after the wedding, since most brides don’t have another occasion to wear a tiara again, it can be made into another item that you will get to wear again and again.  I was lucky enough to meet Gillian a few years ago at a wedding show, and I can genuinely say that she was a lovely person who gave me advice on what sort of hair accessory would suit my hair, shape and dress.

Why not treat yourself to a Spa Day in the run up to your Wedding Day.  After all the planning and organising, take time out to relax and get your head straight.  You could take your best mate, your mum, or even hubby-to-be, to get pampered.  Alternatively, you could break with tradition and have a weekend spa break rather than a hen night.
