Wedding TV competition
Wedding TV competition

Wedding TV are running a competition at the moment to win a set of Leia Bridal underwear.  In true morning TV fashion the question posed  is so ludicuously easy that you may feel that your intelligence has been too badly insulted to give them the priveledge of signing up as a Wedding TV member.  (a prequesite for entering the competition).

If this competition doesnt grab your fancy then its a good idea to sign up as a free member of WeddingTV because they regularly run competitions that are quick and easy to enter (once you are a member) and there are often some very good prizes on offer.

Anyway, back to the current question which did make me chuckle.  What is another word for Underwear ?  Is it A – Linguine, B – Lingerie, or C – Langostine.  Lets just say if your newly wed husband finds a Langostine Linguine under your wedding dress on your wedding night he might be more than a little disappointed.  But hey, at least it wont go hungry !

Some loved it, some hated it.  Coleen Rooney’s Marchesa wedding dress last year, rumoured to have cost between £100,000 and £200,000 (just a small flats difference in price) received both criticism and praise, and most criticism was about the price and whether it was worth it.  Personally I thought the dress was lovely, but I did wonder if it really justified the price tag, a view which has been further cemented after seeing this Petal skirt wedding dress from the Nicholas Millington collection at Kays for a bargain £360.  The satin bodice sits just off the shoulders for a pretty and demure look and the organza layered skirt gives that floaty fairytale dress look and the sheer organza is actually a look I prefer.  It is suggested to buy the underskirt to give that volume effect which will add an extra £49, bringing the cost to just  £409, and since you can try it on at home and return it if it’s not suitable, you won’t have to make any last minute fights to America as Coleen did for alterations!

So you love the designer wedding dress look but can’t afford the price tag that goes with it.  Copplestones Bridal is a wedding dress designer outlet based in Liverpool where you can pick up a dress from between £99 to £299.  The wedding dresses are from designers such as Amanda Wyatt, Charlotte Balbier and Raylia Designs, to name but a few and are sourced from the designer, manufacturers and bridal salons due to cancelled orders, over orders or from samples and last seasons stock.  This beautiful pink wedding dress pictured is £299, well worth a trip to Liverpool for.

Marks & Spencer
Marks & Spencer

We all know that if you put the word ‘wedding’ in front of an item, the price is always going to be higher than it would be normally and flowers are probably one of those things it most applies to.  Now you don’t really want to be trying to do bouquets for your bridesmaids or yourself unless you have some floristry experience, but the bouquets you can get delivered are virtually ready for you to use.  Get someone to hold the bouquet for you as you undo the wrapping, then tie your chosen ribbon around the stems to keep them in shape and secure the ribbon with small pins, then you can cut the stems to the length your require.  This Autograph Avalanche Rose Bouquet from Marks & Spencer features 12 Avalanche roses and costs £35 including delivery.  The site features reviews from others who have bought them and one reviewer had indeed used them as wedding flowers for her bridesmaid.  It is important to note that these roses are sent with their guard petals (the large outer ones) still in place in order to protect the flowers during shipping and if they have become discoloured it’s because they are protecting the flower, so simply remove them before using them.

Skopelos

Say ‘I do, I do, I do, I do, I do,’ in ABBA style and get married on the Greek island of Skopelos where Mamma Mia was filmed.  Yes I have just watched it again and now have a burning desire to renew our vows (although three years is probably a bit too soon) on the beautiful island, followed by an ABBA themed party complete with sequined, frilled jumpsuits.  If you are thinking of getting married on one of the Greek Islands, Thalpos Holidays can help you with all the details, from papers required to transport, catering and storage of your wedding gifts.  For personal advise it’s worth checking a forum like Trip Advisor where you can get advice from people who have been there or know the area.

Vintage Rose Bracelet
Vintage Rose Bracelet

This Vintage Rose Bracelet is perfect for some vintage style with its pink and white freshwater pearls, Swarovski diamantes and ivory beads.  If however it is not quite what you’re after, there’s no need to start your search all over again, since as the company name Bespoken For suggests, you can choose the couture bespoke service to make this design exactly as you require.   With a whole range of items in each collection, you’ll be able to customise your accessories to your requirements.  The bracelet pictured above is £68.99 and there are matching  items available including hair pins, earrings, hair combs and even cufflinks.  It’s lovely to keep all your bridal jewellery as a reminder of your wedding day, but if you feel the costs are starting to ger out of hand, this company will hire jewellery which is a great idea especially for items such as tiaras which don’t tend to be used again after the wedding.

www.talkwedding.co.uk

Yes its another wedding forum…. please don’t groan. I wrote a year ago about what I consider to be the three busiest wedding forums around at the moment and after the failed attempt by the popular Foreverafter site to start a forum it goes to show how difficult it is to get a new community off the ground.  Well, nevertheless we are giving it a go and the Weddingo team have just launched a new wedding forum call www.talkwedding.co.uk

Why is our wedding forum going to be different ?  Well, for a start we have all our lovely Weddingo readers to give it a kick start ;-)  So, please help us out and feel free to join in the chat.  You will always find the very latest posts along the right hand side column of this site.  We will be announcing a competition soon whereby you can earn some wedding goodies in return for posts so its worth just signing up so we can let you know when the incentive starts.  Click on the logo above to visit the forums.  With your help I can revise my list of the top three wedding sites to include www.talkwedding.co.uk in the not to distant future.

Personalised Apple Crate
Personalised Apple Crate

I do love to find the unusual and quirky, especially when it’s for a gift.  I found this personalised apple crate from Getting Personal when I was looking for a present for my mum’s 60th birthday and since she loves her garden this was a great choice as I could fill it with plants and personalise it with ‘Happy 60th Birthday’ and put her birth date on it.  It arrived within the time frame and I was really pleased with it, just hope she will be now.  Of course the wedding head kicked in (that sounds quite brutal!) when I saw it as well, and so of course I had to feature it on here.  It makes a great wedding present for a couple whether it is filled with plants outside or used inside for storing vegetables in the kitchen, shoes in the hallway or even towels in the bathroom.  You can personalise it with the couples name and wedding date and it can be delivered directly to them.  It will be despatched within 5 days, costs £39.14 and delivery is free.

Petite Bridesmaid Dresses
Petite Bridesmaid Dresses

If any of your bridesmaids are petite then they will probably be dreading trying to find a bridesmaid dress that fits well for your wedding.  Next have had a great range of petite wear for a long time and are always my number one choice for any occasion as a petite girl myself.  The fit is always good and the quality and price are spot on.  Pictured above is a selection of petite dresses from the occasions range that are suitable for bridesmaid dresses at any time of the year.  The colour palette of mink, chocolate and pink are colours that can be coordinated with most wedding colours in any season.  The prices range from £60 to £90 for an outfit and of course they can all be worn again since the styles are bang on trend.  The long bridemaid dress in chocolate or mink with contrasting, detachable tie belt is perfect for petite shapes with a small bust as the pleating detail on the round neck helps create the illusion of a bust.  The ruffle top and skirt is great for petite shapes who have a bit of a tummy as the ruffles help cover this area and if you have a large bust the scoop neckline and ruffles make the most of your assets.  The strapless mink corsage dress is ideal for petite shapes with large hips and bottom as the pleats of the skirts skim the bum and the corsage and bust pleating detail helps detract attention away from the waist.  The pleated pink dress is suitable for most petite shapes and oozes red carpet appeal with the pleating detail at the bust (think Kate Winslet at the Baftas) and sequin band under the bust.  The mink and pink ruffle dress is also bang on trend with pretty layers of ruffles that fall delicately from the thigh area making it perfect for petite shapes with large thighs.  Of course all these dresses are available in regular sizes as well.
